Summer Fever
Summer is here to stay for awhile and this is the perfect time to do one of two things: either 1. go out on the town while the night is young until the break of dawn or 2. do absolutely nothing but lounge around on a beach (or in an air conditioned place)! Either way one needs good tunes!
I am someone who has faith in the oldies. I love the heartbreaking crooners, the ladies of the blues, the ramba and mamba, the quiet musicians, the 60s groove, and everything in between. Give me Sarah Vaughan or Bud Powell any day!
This summer mix I made for you all has everything from 1940s The Andrew Sisters to 1960s The Crystals. It is the perfect playlist for car driving with all of the windows down and fabulous sunglasses! You can find the playlist here.
The track listing is:
1. Percy Faith & His Orchestra - Theme from "A Summer Place"
2. Connie Francis - Where the Boys Are
3. Diana Dors - The Gentleman is a Dope
4. Frank Sinatra - I've Got You Under My Skin
5. The Crystals - He's a Rebel
6. Rosemary Clooney - Botch a Me
7. Ella Fitzgerald - Sophisticated Lady 8. Dean Martin - Volare
9. The Andrew Sisters - Hold Tight Hold Tight (Want Some Sea Food Mama)
10. Elvis Presley - All Shook Up
11. Robert Maxwell - Shangri La
12. Sarah Vaughan - Mean To Me
13. Louis Armstrong - A Kiss to Build a Dream On
14. Doris Day - Dream a Little Dream of Me
Another wonderful place to listen to old classics is WKHR 91.5 FM which is a radio station based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. WKHR is a non-profit organization entirely dependent on the donations of Ohioans. I have recently discovered this radio station and it is ALL I listen to now! They mostly only play the classics from 1930s - 1950s. You can listen to their live stream here!
Hope you all enjoy and I will see you next Friday!
