I’m in the Mood for Love

mood1.jpg

Valentine's Day is looming near and the mood is love. The mood should always be love. And I don't mean love in the soul wrenching grand sense of the word. I mean self-love, love for family, love for friends, love for lovers, whatever bracket(s) apply. Valentine's Day can be a weird day for a single gal (such as myself), but instead of relenting and feeling sorry for one's self, it is the perfect time for self care. Last year I spent V-Day alone doing all of my favorite things. I went to a fabulous theater called Metrograph and watched The Lady Eve (1941) in 35mm. I then treated myself to a stylish cocktail at my favorite bar on earth, Slowly Shirley, followed by a decadent meal there. I went out with a girl friend to a Singles' Event and went home feeling amazing!

If you're alone, this is a good time to hang with your other single friends. Or if you want to spend it alone and indoors, stay in with a facial, a sweet smelling candle, and a stack of wonderful black-and-white and technicolor films to watch. No matter what you wind up doing--single or alone--the mood should ALWAYS be love. But especially love for oneself, that is something that is always forgotten about especially during the month of February!

Now what in the world does Valentine's Day have to do with nightgowns? How'd I figure in a gorgeous nightgown into yet ANOTHER blog post, you maybe asking yourselves? Well for me self-care and pampering oneself includes looking and feeling wonderful. Regardless of a night in on your own or out with a lover, this is a day to let go and treat yourself!

You guys know that I have an immense love for nightgowns, but I think this is the prettiest one that I own. It is a gorgeous baby blue Vanity Fair 1950s sheer gown made of nylon and chiffon. The neckline is a slightly lower sweetheart neck with a diamond inset at the bodice giving an empire waist feel. The diamond inset also gives the illusion of a flatter stomach which I really love.

The sheer chiffon has beautiful bird embroidery in tan tones and blue. The bodice to this nightgown is absolute perfection!

The back detailing is marvelous. The back bodice goes down into a low V mimicking the front. As you can see pictured here, the bodice consists of diamond shaped cutouts with beautiful chiffon facing accenting the nightgown. That same chiffon detailing is also in the hem of the dress

This is the kind of dress that makes me wish I were a dancer of some sort! This dress makes me feel my ultimate feminine, my ultimate beautiful and that's how you want to feel on Valentine's Day!

Wish you all a good week filled with love and I'll see you next week!
