Christmas Carolin’

The first of December is here! I've began scouting out gifts for family and friends, fantasizing about Christmas dinner, watching It's a Wonderful Life (1946) over and over again, and carolin' away to classic Christmas tunes!

Recently I came across a vintage Christmas to-do list and couldn't help but giggle as I read through it. I love coming across pages like these because they remind me of YouTube challenges. Many of the tasks incorporate Christmas inspired recipes. There are some interesting tips and recipes though that I think are worth trying out just for fun!

Christmas decorating is one of my favorite parts about Christmas. Vintage and retro style decorations are always vibrant and classic.

Tinsel Christmas trees are my absolute favorite! During the 1950s aluminum based tinsel Christmas trees became all the rage. White tinsel trees are definitely the most popular and can always be found in local shops. However, when I was back in my hometown, Cleveland, Ohio, for Thanksgiving break, I went to a vintage shop that had a PINK TINSEL TREE! I am now officially obsessed with pink tinsel trees.

Note: If purchasing a tinsel tree, reproduction/modern maybe a better choice if you want to use Christmas lights, as it is a safer option!

Colorful vintage glass baubles (as shown in the picture above) or indented baubles are always gorgeous ways to decorate a tinsel tree. Glass figurals (sculpted figurines) and goose egg ornaments are also pretty options to hang on the tree, if you like a more ornamented Christmas tree. Vintage Christmas toppers are always a good way to finish off a tree. There are many different topper options such as, atomic style metal starbursts, mirrored stars, and shiny finial toppers.

You guys know that I am a cocktail gal through and through and snowball cocktails are a good way to go! This was a drink that was very popular during the 1960s and 1970s. All you need is advocaat, lemonade, and lemon-lime soda or lime cordial. Fill a Collins glass with ice, pour 1 part advocaat and top with the lemonade (3-4 parts), stir, then add a splash of lime cordial, and of course add a cherry on top!

When one thinks of Christmas, the festive music definitely comes to mind! I know that the Christmas music genre is one that is either loved or hated, there is no in between. I LOVE a good Christmas carol, but I only listen to the classics. Here's a playlist I hope you all enjoy as you get into the spirit of the month!
