Pretty in Pink I

December is here and with change of seasons comes change in wardrobe. This extends to one's boudoir wardrobe. In a previous blog post ("Primping & Pastel Robes"), I showed you guys a snippet of my pastel vintage nightgown and pajama collection. During colder seasons, I like to stay warm and cozy while still maintaining an ultra feminine look in my vintage pieces. Slips under nightgowns, house dresses, decadent robes, bed jackets (which will be shown next week!) and two piece sets are some ways to keep a cute but practical look going for yourself. And why not wear pink, pink, and more pink?

This salmony coral pink 1960s Christian Dior two piece set is an absolute dream! I bought these wonderful pajamas from Cynthia Deering who resides in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a vintage connoisseur and such a charming and stylish woman! She previously owned Deering Vintage which was a huge vintage staple in Cleveland (and my favorite vintage shop of all time). Unfortunately she had to close her beautiful shop down, but has moved on to other fabulous endeavors and continues to sell her vintage stock occasionally. I snagged these pajamas for $10 from one of her liquidation sales and have been obsessed ever since!

My favorite part about this set are the high waisted pants. Some vintage pajamas can be a bit uncomfortable due to lack of an elastic band. Luckily this pair has an elastic waistband so it sits comfortably around the waist. These are sailor pants, so they have a slight flare from the knee to hem giving them a stylish element. All of the hems are finished with beautiful white lacing which is just that extra touch that I love about clothing from the past!

This top is to die for! The theme for this pajama set is clearly "Coral Pink Sailor" and I love every moment of it. The pajama top has gathers at the shoulder to give the sleeves flare. The sleeves stop at the elbows, which is a comfortable length for colder days. The neckline has a small button closure and a beautiful dramatic tie, which I absolutely love! If you've been following me on this blog, you've probably realized I have a HUGE love of ties at the neck--ascots, ribbons, etc. The top nips in at the waist and then flares slightly at the bottom to match proportionately to the pant. Again, all of the top's hems are finished with gorgeous white lace, which really completes the look!

The material of the pajamas are a polyester blend that feels as soft as silk! Whenever I put on this set, I feel extremely comfortable and pretty in pink! The lovely book that I was reading is Pride and Prejudice by: Jane Austen. It is a 1950s copy that I snagged at Housing Works in Upper East Side (New York).

Hope you enjoyed my post for this week and I will see you next week for Pretty in Pink Pt II featuring a fabulous bed jacket and records!
