A Casual Summer

Hello dearies, I am back with another post and decided to share with you my casual every day look for Summer 2020. I've had to turn in my slinky 1970s gowns and oversized caftans for more practical casual wear this year. I am currently running the summer care program at the school I teach at. The program is for children ages pre-kindergarten to second grade. So needless to say I had to do some last minute shopping to make sure I balance comfortableness and practicality while still maintaining my style!

Today I will start with footwear and accessories. This is my first time sporting a canvas tennis shoe in awhile and I gotta say I love these navy Sperry shoes with brown contrasting laces! I purchased these from Macy's as they were having a really great sale over the weekend.

Most days I like to push my hair back and use a vintage scarf as a kind of headband or head wrap. I tie the scarf so that the tails are facing front and tie again to create a knot. I then tuck the two tails on either sides of the scarf and place bobby pins at the tails to hold them down. This is great for getting your hair out of your face and still creating a retro feel. I've had this yellow, orange, and white printed 1960s scarf for many years now. It always provides an excellent pop of color!

(Do you spy a sneaky furry friend under my bed? My cat always gets a photo op in even unintentionally!)

These floral capris are hands down my favorite recent purchase! These whimsical retro looking capris are by Crazy Horse which is a Liz Claiborne company. They're made of 100% cotton and feel AMAZING as cotton is such a breathable fabric. The floral print is white with hints of pink, turquoise, and lime green against a navy backdrop. They have little vents on the sides which makes running around in these feel like a breeze. These capris remind me of a pair that Betty Draper would wear in Mad Men (can you tell I've been watching a lot of Mad Men lately?) My lime green cotton t-shirt is by Coldwater Creek and pairs so well with these pants! I bought both items at the Volunteers of America. The capris were $3.99 and the t-shirt was $1.99!

In this photo you can see my funky floral pink, black, and orange printed Vera Bradley shoulder bag which I carry to school because it can hold my laptop, notebooks, and other necessary items. I also purchased it at Volunteers of America for $8.99!

Because I work with kids, I like my clothes and accessories to be colorful, fun, and still maintain a vintage-y look!

(Excuse my mess of cords in this photograph!) I have to say, I've been enjoying wearing casual clothes. You rarely catch me in a pair of pants let alone a t-shirt and tennis shoes. So it has been a nice change and has made me realize that I can incorporate a more practical style into my work clothes and still maintain a retro look!

I hope you all enjoyed this Outfit of the Day post and I will see you next week!!
