A Night to Remember

Hello, darlings! I am back with a brief post for the week. A few weekends ago, I went to one of my favorite bars/nightclubs in Cleveland, Ohio, Good Night John Boy, with my brother, Christopher, and my cousins, Briana and Ashley. This nightclub is a good go-to place for anyone who loves disco music, light-up cocktails, $5 jello shots, and a 1970s atmosphere. We decided to dress in the theme and had a 1970s night. Chris and I had to get a picture together in our true vintage ensembles.

I had to bring back my 1970s highlighter yellow knitted halter dress. I bought this dress from The Bombshelter in Akron, Ohio for a mere $22 years ago. More details on this dress can be found in an older blog post (here). I opted for a Diana Ross-inspired look and put on a voluminous tight curly wig that I fluffed out for a more dramatic effect. I wore retro white statement circle earrings and simple black H&M slingbacks that I purchased at Volunteers of America for $4.

My brother wore vintage white polyester pants and a vintage white button-down shirt with shimmery black yoke detailing. He also wore a small crowned chain and gold rings from my Dad before his passing. He rocks his natural afro and is inspired by the looks of the 1960s/70s. He is proof that men can wear vintage and look good doing it!

In this photograph, you can see that while my brother and I opted for true vintage, my cousins wore retro looks that paid homage to the era. Ashley (pictured far right) wore denim high-waisted pants paired with a cropped tie-dye halter top. She teased out her natural hair and wore simple jewelry to complement her look. Briana (pictured next to me) wore black and white printed knitted statement pants with a black crop top and long braids.

To end the blog post, I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from the 1970s that inspire me so much.
