Back to Basics
Boy, does it feel good to be back! Gal Friday Vintage had to take a hiatus due to issues with the previous site provider. Now GFV Blog is back and better than ever! The wait was well worth it and I hope that this little vintage space grows and thrives. I have many new ideas and projects that will hopefully come into fruition by the end of this year/beginning of 2021.
Summer is coming to a sobering end. 2020 has been an unusual year for us all. Vacation trips were cancelled, cocktail parties paused, FaceTime dates became the norm, and everyone was restless and a bit unsettled. September is now around the corner and I can’t help but miss life pre-covid. But I am still excited about my favorite season, fall and all that it has to offer even in the midst of a global pandemic!
End of summer looks have still been quite casual. For the summer, I’ve had to trade in my 1960s full length dresses for practical short sleeved blouses and capris. It has been a lovely change but I am excited to return to wearing my easy dresses and skirts. I love letting my legs breathe!
Today I wore my short-sleeved pink, purple, and white plaid striped button down shirt that I bought at Volunteers of America. I tied it at the waist to show a sliver of my belly. I paired it with simple lightly striped tan capris cuffed at the knee. (Another Volunteers purchase.) I put on a slim white belt as it is a little big at the waist. I wore my navy blue Sperrys which are honestly the only casual shoes that I own. (I must invest in more pairs!)
For accessories, I wore my reproduction heart shaped sunnies from Flower Child that I’ve mentioned in previous posts. My earrings are dangly rhinestone earrings from Designer Consignor that are reminiscent of 1950s costume jewelry. When my hair is a bit of a mess, I love wearing vintage scarves tied on my head to cover most of my hair. This scarf is another accessory from Designer Consignor. I absolutely love the bold hot pink color and thought it would bring out the subtle pink in my button down shirt.
I decided to go back to basics with this outfit of the day post. I have so much in store for GFV and hope that you all stay posted for more to come!
