It’s Been a Long Time Coming
I admit that I didn't follow through on a few goals the year of 2018. This blog has been one of those goals that I fell short on many a time. Creating content requires a lot of thoughtful time management and I am fully aware that I am not the best in that department. But I've learned that it's best not to beat oneself up about goals that were not met and focus on the goals that were and how to improve upon the others. Thank you to those who keep up with this little blog despite the lack of posts. I am working to get more shoots together and more vintage content uploaded aside from Outfit of the Day posts. So stay tuned! I promise it'll be worth the wait. I have a lot of exciting projects coming up!
Winter is here and I have to say, I was mentally not prepared for it! I admit, I have kept things simple in the wardrobe department. I've been really into what I call "Cold Weather Basics." This includes simple long sleeved shirts, turtlenecks, trousers, and woolen skirts. I can't help but think that I've been channeling a bit of Meg Ryan during the 1990s-early 2000s but it is such a practical style for the winter.
If you look at photographs of Marilyn Monroe during her downtime, she spent those days in simple sweaters or plain shirts and jeans. You can still do a vintage or retro look and maintain practicality for work, weather, etc.
My outfit consists of a slouchy red knitted turtleneck that I purchased for $3 at Salvation Army. These grew woolen plaid trousers have an elastic waist to ensure a comfortable fit and were also purchased at the Salvation Army for $4. I snagged a bunch of Cold Weather Basics from Salvation during Black Friday (everything was half off)! This outfit is simplicity at its finest and is extremely comfortable during these times of harsher weather.
I tied a sheer floral black scarf around my head to create a headband and kept jewelry at a minimum. Today was a no-fuss kind of day, spent mostly indoors. Christmas is coming up and tis the season for trying to stay warm, remain productive, and produce great content. There is much more to come on this little vintage blog!
I will see you all very soon for a new Gal Friday post!
