A Little Tacky Goes a Long Way
I admit to you all, I miss the days of being outside! It makes me think of all of the little things I took for-granted before social distancing. I miss working all of my many jobs that I love. I miss going out for dinner and drinks with friends. I miss watching new and interesting films at the theater and checking out tons of books at the downtown library. I miss browsing vintage shops for inspiration and going to museum exhibitions. Being stuck indoors requires a lot of creativity and I am someone who bores easily. But I also recognize this as a time to hone in on activities and hobbies that I normally don't have time for. I've been sewing myself vintage-inspired dresses from reproduction retro Butterick patterns. I've been cooking and baking fancy recipes from scratch. (Here are a few recommendations: Swedish Meatballs, Lemony Arugula Salad w/ Parmesan, and Mandarin Orange & Almond Cake.) I do pilates, ballet, and/or yoga daily (Here is a link to my favorite YouTube channel for these workouts: Pyschetruth). But I also spend a great deal of time on social media, internet browsing, and watching old films and Project Runway marathons.
This has been a time of a reflection and remembering this day in the photographs makes me feel nostalgic for time spent outdoors and hanging out with friends. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy and hanging in there during this time. I'm a bit stir crazy but typing on here with my green tea in hand is definitely a highlight of my day!
On this day, I was going out for drinks with friends and wanted to look the part. I realize that sometimes sprinkling in dash of tackiness in your style can be fun! I try not to take fashion too seriously and enjoy dressing for the day. I wore my pale pink sparkling bodysuit that I tie up its thin straps into a halter. I love the delicate lace trimming at the neckline to add to its femininity. I believe I bought this bodysuit from Forever21 a long time ago. I wore my 90s high-waisted navy pants that I thrifted from the Salvation Army. I wore one of my favorite cover ups that I wear out on the town as well as in my home as loungewear. It is a sheer zebra print cover up with ruffling down the front panels and at the sleeve hems. It is a Victoria's Secret piece that I also snagged from Salvation Army. My black suede ankle boots are a go-to for me to add a little bit of height. (I am unsure where I bought these from, but I believe Payless a long time ago.)
This black rhinestoned headband is a favorite of mine that I bought from Target fairly recently. Oh yeah and you can't forget a nice pair of shades! These are the same ones I wore in a previous post. They are reproduction tortoiseshell frames from Flower Child.
I hope you all enjoy this little Outfit of the Day post from our pre-qurantine times and that this blog can provide a little entertainment for you during this time of social distancing. And I will see you guys again next Friday darlings!!
