Quarterly Changes

Guys, I know I keep neglecting this space. Life seems to have a way of creating whirlwinds and laying it on you all at once. I can't complain too much because I've been getting a lot of theatre work, participated in a fashion show, and prepping and planning for future Gal Friday projects. With loads of work comes load of stress and loads of emotions running wild. This space gives me a place to unwind and write joyful things about what I love most--vintage. But sometimes in the midst of the chaos, this blog becomes yet another item on my To-Do List and it should not be that at all. So I am going to switch things up a bit. I don't want to reveal too much but some posts will be much shorter than the normal posts, but still packed with fun facts and fabulousness. My Historical Black Women and Men series will continue in upcoming posts as well which I am very excited about!

Okay, now onto the outfit! This is a go to look when I have a fancier evening planned. This black sweater is from Designer Consigner that I snagged for $12. My favorite part about the sweater is the fact that it has a detachable faux fur collar so it can easily be dressed up or down. This 1970s chocolate brown jumpsuit from Future No Future Vintage is definitely one of my favorite items! The bodice is gathered and has a pleated halter with a diamond inset. I bought this specifically for a night on the town. This is one of those outfits that balances sexiness and class the way that only the 1970s can do. Think Diahann Carroll and Diana Ross!

Lately I've been experimenting with different curl patterns and alternating between a wet and dry set. This was a dry Flexi-rod set that withstood a full 24 hour day. On the side with the most hair (left), I did about two rolls of stand-up curls and the rest of my curls were the standard curls rolled under. I find that following a specific set really helps give an Old Hollywood look. For lipstick, I've been gearing towards Revlon's "Pink in the Afternoon," which Audrey Hepburn wore as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffanys (1961). I've been very inspired by Kim Novak and Sophia Loren with a more neutral/pink lip.

I hope you guys enjoyed this little post and I will see you next week (I promise!).
