Last Weeks for a Hot Toddy
March 20th is the day that Spring officially began. Yet the weather has been very up and down since then. 50 degrees and sunny one day, 30 degrees and snowing the next day. Before it gets too hot outside, I thought I'd share with you how to make a tasty hot toddy. I learned this one from my mom!
I drink these when I have a cold or when the weather just calls for it. It kicks up a cup of plain black tea and warms you up at a time when you need it! All you need is apricot or peach brandy, lemon, honey, black tea, and lots of sugar!
Prepare your black tea and then pour about a shot of the apricot or peach brandy. Obviously with all of these ingredients, you can make it sweeter or more boozy depending on your preference.
Squeeze in a half a lemon and put it in the tea to keep that citrus flavor there when the sweeter elements are added.
I like to add about a tablespoon of honey because I do prefer my hot toddy on the sweeter side. Again you can scale back if you like yours with more of a boozy kick!
I am sugar crazy! I added about 6-8 sugar cubes in mine. I prefer the taste of real sugar in my hot toddy, but you can feel free to use any sugar substitute.
And there you have it! A simple hot toddy for a cold, rainy day perfect when paired with an old film on Turner Classic Movies, a warm blanket, and plush house shoes.
Hope you all enjoyed this warm cocktail recipe! I will see you next Friday.
