Fashionably Late for 2019

Hello and a Happy New Year to you all! I am operating in fashionably late Elizabeth Taylor style but I have been told that it's better to arrive late to the party than not arrive at all! Liz was always notoriously late on any set of any film she was working on. She even requested for her coffin to arrive 15 minutes late to her own funeral. So thus, here I am! And I promise you my postings will be more consistent this new year. (It is on my Goal List of 2019!)

Like me, Winter has held off long enough and it has finally begun snowing and being cold consistently. Last week there was a high of 55 degrees and there were many consistently sunny days which is highly unusual for Ohio. I am extremely grateful to be able to escape into a warm car when traveling around in this weather! (More on this lovely car here.)

In this kind of weather, I believe in lots of layers and accessories--scarves, sweaters, tights, gloves, all of the works! Lately I have been a fan of mixing and matching prints. (And apparently I'm in love with the color red now as I find that I've been wearing it quite often.) I snagged this fabulous 1970s plaid polyester wool blend coat from Future No Future Vintage. It was love at first sight! I am obsessed with the collar, the four flap pockets, and jeweled black buttons down the front. This coat instantly reminded me of Mary Tyler Moore and anything that is reminiscent of her, requires a purchase!

As you can see there are two printed scarves incorporated in two different ways. The 1960s nylon scarf is tied around my dark brown 1950s clasped snakeskin purse to give it a pop of color. I love the red, white, and navy blue palette of the scarf and the simplicity of the dotted print coupled with flowers. Around my neck, I tied a scarf borrowed from my brother. I love the striped blend of white, green, gold, and red. I think it complements the green tones in the plaid of my red coat.

Would you believe me if I told you I was able to snag this 1960s dream dress for $5 at the Salvation Army? It is a polyester short sleeved dress with a plain white ribbed bodice and cool geometric print on the skirt portion in red, white, and navy blue. I strongly believe in wearing dresses during winter and this is one of those easy dresses to throw on, zip up the back, and head out on the town in. I typically layer this with a sweater and of course a nice pair of sheer black tights to keep myself warm in. My ankle boots have a chunky heel with a cute velvet belt wrapped at the ankle. I believe I purchased these from Payless and they are honestly super comfortable for walking around in!

And off I am! Here's to hoping that this 2019 is filled with lots of love, laughs, creativity, and joy. These are the things that I am wishing for myself and for you as well dear reader! I will see you next Friday!
