There’s a Meeting in the Mailroom

Lately it's been so cold outside that I barely want to get out of bed let alone leave the apartment. In my mind winters are meant to stay curled up in bed with a good book or watch a great film with a steamy cup of hot cocoa in your comfiest pajamas. But sometimes one must crawl themselves out of bed and handle simple business such as working, cleaning the home, or sending and checking the mail.

In Breakfast at Tiffany's, there's a fabulous scene in which Audrey Hepburn's character Holly Golightly rushes down the stairs of her apartment in her little black dress, oversized sunglasses, and fabulous hat. She opens up her mailbox and in it there is a bottle of perfume and a tube of Revlon's "Pink in the Afternoon" that she smears on. My choice of lipstick to keep in the mailbox is M.A.C.'s "Russian Red" or Revlon's "Cherries in the Snow!"

Even a trip down to the mailroom requires lots of comfort with some layers!

My outfit consists of a hunter green turtleneck that I purchased for $6 at Salvation Army and a pair of black high waisted pants with an elastic band that I purchased many years ago at H&M. My grey zip up faux fur knitted vest was gifted to me during Christmas. My favorite part of this look are my comfortable 1960s brown suede and faux fur boots with white contrasting triangular stitching. The cherry on top is the fact that these boots are lined in grey faux fur and ties for a comfortable fit. This is definitely one of my best vintage purchases to dates. I bought these boots at Vintage Fashion Cleveland for $45 and have been wearing them on the coldest and snowiest days.

I have to admit, I am very much so ready for springtime and the fabulous outfits that come with warmer weather. But until then, I will remain bundled up and try to stay as warm (but still chic) as possible!

Hope you enjoyed this Outfit of the Day post and I will see you next Friday!
