Love Is All Around

“Autumn Leaves” by Nat King Cole and “Autumn in New York” by: Billie Holiday are two of my favorite songs to listen to during this time of year. This year I want to go apple picking for the first time in my adult life. I also want to immerse myself in old horror films. The horror genre is one that I do not partake in much but lately I’ve been into Turner Classic Movies’ “Fright Favorites” programming that comes on every Friday in October. I will review and recommend some of my favorite watches in an upcoming blog post.

In other news, my birthday was a few days ago and I am at the ripe age of 26. Birthdays during a pandemic are odd because there isn’t much you can do but I appreciated the things that I was able to do with some of the people that I love. I’m grateful to see another year and to experience another wonderful October birthday.

Fall is my favorite season for fashion due to the layering. I still love to play around with vibrant colors and I’ve been continuing this 1960s vibe that I’ve been into lately. My blouse is a lovely 1960s mustard yellow button down shirt made from acetate and nylon. I love the extreme pointed straight collar that is so representative of that 60s era. There are small pearlescent buttons that go up to my neck and the sleeves (which you can’t see in the photographs) billow from the wrist to elbow. I purchased this shirt from Chelsea’s Costumes awhile back.

My skirt is a fabulous 1990s Joe Benbasset cheetah print number. It is a nice form fitting short pencil skirt which gives a mod 1960s look. I purchased this from Future No Future Vintage.

This is a fall outfit of the day post, yet are you surprised that florals figured their way into my look? This jacket (probably more suitable for spring) is one of my favorite vintage pieces that I own. It is a gorgeous 1960s abstract floral print in the brightest orange, red, purple, and pink with orange lining. It is a double breasted jacket but has a lot of missing buttons that I need to fix! I purchased this beauty for $1-2 from vintage seller Cynthia Deering during a liquidation sale. This jacket always puts me in the mind of one of my biggest fashion inspirations, Mary Tyler Moore. Cue The Mary Tyler Moore Show theme song “Love Is All Around.”

I finished this look with black knee length knit socks and black boots with a velvet strap and silver buckle.

I like to have fun with my wardrobe and wearing colorful, whimsical outfits like this really set the tone for me to have a great day. It’s definitely a mood booster!

I hope you all enjoyed this Outfit of the Day post this week. I have a lot more in store in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime take a look at my blog archive on here which is packed with vintage outfit of the day looks, vintage movie and show recommendations, spotlights on some of my favorite Old Hollywood stars, cocktail recipes, and more historical facts. If you are looking for some authentic vintage pieces especially from 1940s - 1970s, I highly suggest taking a look at my shop links here.

I’ll see you next week!
