2021, Here We Go

Is it cliche to have a new post on New Year’s Day? Perhaps. But I am happy to be back. 2020 was an unforgettable year filled with some heartbreak, some triumphs, some new beginnings, and some endings. I want to thank everyone who supports this little blog. During lockdown this year I began Gal Friday Vintage Shop on Depop and Poshmark which has received more following than I expected. In June, I posted my “Dear Vintage Community” which received such positive feedback and was shared by many people in the vintage community. I have so many ideas for 2021 and I cannot wait to share them with you!

Now I have to begin with a standard Outfit of the Day post of course. :) (I promise there are more things to come aside from OOTDs.)

For Christmas, one of my dear cousins gifted me this fabulous secondhand white Old Navy coat. The details of this coat are so lovely and clearly 1950s/60s inspired. I love the empire waist bodice where the big dark brown buttons stop at. The mod classic patch pockets. The princess seam lines that hug the figure in the right places. The trump sleeves with piping detail are the highlight, giving a dramatic flare to a classic looking coat. I paired the coat with a bright pink pant to add a pop of color. I thrifted the pants at The Salvation Army awhile back. My black boots are an old pair of combat boots from eBay.

During wintertime I like to wear vintage scarves in a variety of different ways. One of my favorite ways is to tie it around my head. Think Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Grace Kelly. Headscarves are great for keeping warm in cold weather. This sky blue floral scarf was gifted to me by my dear friend and fellow costumer Lady Jen Ryan (she’s gifted me many things that I’ve worn on this blog). I paired the scarf with my favorite sunglasses. I bought these a few summers ago at Flower Child. They are custom retro tortoiseshell frames with green, silver, and gold rhinestone detailing on the sides. They are dramatic and add to any look!

My purse is a classic 1950s brown handbag with gold hardware that I purchased at The Bombshelter in Akron, Ohio. (Don’t mind the cat hair.) My pink gloves are also vintage and are super comfortable on a cold day.

I hope that you enjoyed this little Outfit of the Day post and that you stay tuned for all of the fabulous things that Gal Friday has in store.

Here’s hoping that 2021 is filled with healing and positive momentum in careers, relationships, aspirations, and dreams. Much love to you all! <333
