Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year

Hello friends! It’s been a month since my last post and I am happy to be back. It’s been a long time coming. Sometimes life gets in the way of the best-laid plans, but I am striving for more consistency on this platform. My last post was a winter post and now we’re preparing for spring. These are the last weeks of heavy coats and layers so I hope I go out with a bang for winter looks.

Now let’s talk about vintage coats for a moment. As you know, I have a love for all coats and jackets of yesteryear. Vintage London Fog trench coats, 1950s princess-seamed Jackie O dresses, funky 60s/70s coats in an array of prints, the list could go on and on. I was recently gifted a couple of true vintage fur pieces from a friend and colleague of mine. The pieces were once owned by her grandmother and no one had use for them. I gladly accepted the gifts.

This gorgeous brown and tan fur coat has a label that says “Taylor’s Cleveland, London, and Paris.” I tried to look up the label and was unable to find any sources on the label, brand, and year it was made. Judging by the style of the coat and the way it is made, I am guessing that it is a late 1940s piece and that it is fox fur. I absolutely adore the strong shoulders and luxurious feel. This coat puts me in the mind of Joan Crawford circa 1940s.

I want to note that I do not wear new fur coats manufactured in 21st century. I only wear vintage fur typically from 1950s and under. I am also not a fur connoisseur so my guesses on the kind of fur and year of this particular number maybe off. I am basing it on silhouette and make of the fur coat.

The sunglasses worn here have been worn in past posts. They are my favorite 1950s narrow cat eye frames with rhinestone detailing at the corners. I purchased these at Attenson’s Antiques and Books.

For my outfit, I kept it super simple and comfortable. My blouse is a 1970s Lady Holiday polyester blouse in white with red and gold floral print and blue speckles. I absolutely adore the necktie at the neckband. I wore simple black trousers that I purchase many years ago at H&M and my black ankle boots that I got many years ago from Payless.

For makeup I brought back my favorite lipstick, Revlon’s “Cherries in the Snow” which has been around since 1954.
