Pyewacket & Classic Cars
I told you guys awhile back that I’m off to fresh beginnings. Unfortunately some beginnings means a few endings of sorts. Do you remember my beloved PT Cruiser convertible named Pyewacket? Well I had to say goodbye to her last month and it was honestly a much sadder day than I expected. I love quirky, vintage looking cars. I don’t mind flaws as long as it has character.
I shared many great memories with Pyewacket (lovingly named after the memorable cat from the film Bell, Book, and Candle). To celebrate her honor, I thought this would be a great post to reminisce and share with you some of my dream cars!
1.) A 1949 Packard Super Eight would be one of my ideal cars. The Packard is known for being showcased in gangster films such as The Godfather (1972) and Gangster Squad (2013). (It just so happens to be a favorite of Al Capone’s.) Personally I adore the sleekness and masculinity of the Packard.
I love the interiors of classic cars as well. The design was modern for the time and has a lot of character with its wooden panels, sleek interface, and traditional color palette.
Fun fact: I discovered this car from the film Carol (2015). Carol Aird (played by Cate Blanchett) drives this car throughout the 1950s set film specifically on a cross country trip. The car matches the sophisticated character at its finest. It was supplied by a man from Cincinnati named Eric Hansford who calls the car “Ethel.”
2.) A 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Mk 1 which is a rare beauty. 2000 of these cars were manufactured and it is believed that only 200 survive now. This car is a luxurious two-seater sports coupe created by British manufacturer, Rootes Group. If I had an endless supply of money, I would deem this car as a necessary purchase.
The Alpine is the perfect car for cruising on the French Riviera and picnic stops with a lover. Sounds familiar? This car was made popular thanks to the film To Catch a Thief (1955) in which Grace Kelly drives Cary Grant around France in this fabulous number!
3.) Last but certainly not least is the 1991 Nissan Figaro, a gorgeous car created in Japan and manufactured at Nissan Cherry Stores. This car is one of a few retro Nissan cars that was created during the late 1980s - 1990s. The Figaro comes in pretty colors such as mint green, baby blue, lapis grey, etc.
This little car looks European and has classic features that makes it an ideal car for a vintage lover like myself. Figaros were limited to 20,000 units upon its release and were sold through a lottery system in sets. This makes the car another hard car to come across, but worth the hunt for its timelessness.
Thank you for tuning in and I’ll see you next week!
