Bring Back My Hats

Hello, my lovely darlings! I am back with a new blog post. I've been thinking a lot about the term "overdressed" lately. What exactly does that word mean? Sometimes I fear that I am dressed too formally or over-the-top for everyday life. But boy, do I long for the times when people dressed to the nines. Accessories played an integral role in one's outfit. Hats in various shapes and colors, gloves galore, rhinestone costume jewelry, the list could go on and on. So here's to the individuals reading this who are often told that they are "overdressed," why don't we strive to play it up even more?

On this day, I decided that the star of my outfit would be my hat. The hat of my choice is a 1940s Martha Gene white hat that dips in at the sides, front, and back to create a wavy effect. This hat reminds me of one that Gene Tierney would wear during the 1940s. I purchased this beauty from Chelsea's Costumes many years ago. My handbag is by Paloma and is an Italian medium-sized top-handle navy purse with chic detailing. I bought this for $8 at Christ Child Showcase Clothing which I spotlighted in a previous post. I brought back my white heart-shaped sunnies that you have seen in many of a post.

My retro 1950s/60s style Just...Taylor pleated turquoise dress is so darling. I love the repetitive white rings pattern, the linen material, and sophisticated flares. I paired this day dress with black flat sandals for comfort. I bought both items at Christ Child Showcase Clothing (my addiction for this shop is real, as you can see).

I wore this outfit while thrift shopping and drinking cocktails at Bourbon Street Barrel Room in Tremont. I felt absolutely fabulous! Let this be a reminder to BRING BACK THE HATS. I own over 15 vintage hats from the 1930s-60s in various fabrics, from straw to marabou. I vow to utilize them more!

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I will see you next Friday for another vintage blog post!
