Fall/Winter Inspiration
Hello, darlings! Fall is swiftly approaching, and I could not be more stoked about it. I am an autumn baby, so perhaps I am a bit biased. Fall/Winter fashion gives on endless options—layers upon layers of various textures, accessories, and chic clothing. Think faux fur coats, mod turtlenecks, woolen skirts, nylon stockings, and ankle boots. I look to vintage fashion magazines, Turner Classic Movies, and various online resources that I will share at the end of this post! This post is a photo dump of some recently sourced fall/winter fashion inspiration that I hope will inspire you! The photographs were primarily taken in Harlem in New York City.
This first image was a photograph taken during the 1950s in Harlem. I sourced this photograph from @vintageblackglamour on Instagram. The glamorous elbow-length coat paired with pearl accessories and the chic hat make this look extra special!
This photograph showcases a Beech-Nut seller in Harlem during the 1940s. A woman purchases nuts from the seller in a chic woolen coat with fur detailing at the hem and collar. I also love the 40s oxford shoes on the young seller. I sourced this photograph from Pinterest—my go-to website!
This photo is another fabulous Pinterest find showcasing Jazz Age women in iconic looks during the 1920s (or early 1930s). Fur galore, cloches, flapper dresses, and dainty strapped pumps are fabulous inspirations for chillier weather.
I sourced this stunning image from the Black History Album's Tumblr blog. This image is undated and taken in Harlem. If I had to guess, I'd say this looks like a mid/late 1950s photograph based on the swinging coat and hairstyling. The lovely bow finishes this look off with a flourish!
This photograph embodies 1940s fashion in all of its glory. 2 piece skirt suit sets and dresses in the classic wartime silhouette--broad shoulders, pleated skirts, and belted waistlines. These women probably made fabulous cosmetologists! I sourced this photograph from Pinterest.
The final image that I sourced from the Black History Album's Tumblr blog. I adore this photograph of a well-dressed flapper in Harlem, New York, taken by James Van Der Zee in 1931. The chic fur cloche hat, brocade coat with fur trimmings, printed evening handbag, silk flapper dress, and glamorous jewelry make this one of my favorite looks. This photograph could be fabulous inspiration for a night out in a setting that requires formal attire.
I hope that this post provides you with some fashion ideas for fall/winter, and I will see you next week! xx
