Cat Eye Frames and Faux Mink Stoles

Hey guys!! I'm back with a cool announcement! I was recently featured on Jenny Heyside's (founder of Jenny Heyside Co.) blog in her "Week of Outfits" section where I'm in a different outfit per day. You can read the blog post here and check out her Instagram and YouTube channel. She posts awesome content on vintage and thrift shopping, style tips, lifestyle, food, home decor, and so on. Her interviews and posts are so well thought out and helpful. Since the site showcases one picture per look, I decided to post some of the looks to my blog with a couple more photographs so I hope you all enjoy!

The weather has been all over the place in my hometown so each day, you will see me donning different weights of coats (or no coat at all). For today, I enjoyed guava mimosas and fried seafood at Bourbon Street Barrel Room. I was wearing a look that I typically wear to school at my day job because it's sort of "business casual" to me. The black mock neck cropped halter top is one I bought at H&M many years ago (freshman year of college) back when I still shopped fast fashion sometimes. My pants are a woolen poly-blend camel color that I thrifted at Salvation Army for a couple bucks on Half Off Day. My shoes are black dress shoes with gold hardware that I found at Payless a couple years ago. These are the most comfortable shoes I own that I often wear to work because they go with so many of my outfits.

My wonderful vintage plaid 1970s Sears coat was found at Future No Future Vintage. You've seen me sport this coat in other posts before. It's one of my absolute favorite coats as it is super warm and gives any outfit a pop of technicolor realness. I am a tad bit over accessorized but I needed a pair of shades on this sunny day. My choice: cat eyed tortoiseshell frames that are reproductions of vintage frames found at Flower Child. I sported a sheer black floral scarf founded at a thrift shop some years ago. For earrings I opted for these super retro mod white hoops with gold detailing that I bought at Designer Consignor. My purse is my 1950s/60s brown hardshell handbag bought at Chelsea's Costumes.

The next day I opted for another familiar look to you all. My favorite 1980s/90s does 1940s dress in all its World War II inspired glory. Box pleats, utilitarian flap pockets and squared shoulders. I decided not to wear the belt the way I did here in an older post. I paired it with black tights and black lace up boots that I found from a random seller on eBay awhile back. I paired it with this faux fur mink stole that was gifted to me by my aunt and I believe she bought this at Avalon Exchange. My three tiered beaded drop earrings in peach are again from Designer Consignor which is my favorite shop to buy retro looking jewelry from.

My handbag was also gifted to me from my cousin on her trip to Cancun. It is such a retro looking purse and I love the boldness and brightness of the rose pattern as well as the silver hardware. My nail color is the classic "Cherries in the Snow" by Revlon (I should've worn the lipstick to match!). And my ring is my good luck ring that I wear every day which was my mom's engagement ring from my dad.

For makeup, lately I've opted for soft pinks on the high cheeks and eyelids/crease/brow bone and I've been wearing nude lipstick simply because I now work with kids. But I will ease reds back into my evenings/weekend routine. I've been wearing long deep wave hair which I love pulling into a half up and half down hairstyle that reminds me of 1960s looks or of Amy Winehouse. Sometimes I create high beehives but most days I go this route.

Lately I've been pulling a lot of inspiration from film noir, 1960s style, and Diahann Carroll. I like drawing inspiration from different decades, different forms of art and entertainment, etc. and morphing it together into my interpretation. I dress based on mood and current obsessions and it is CONSTANTLY changing which is what I love about fashion and dressing for yourself. You can do WHATEVER you want and I think vintage doesn't have to be so perfect or so boxed into one decade or one set kind of style.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I will see you next Friday!!
